Vision therapy looks at how your eyes focus, move and work together, and how you process visual information.
Start with an assessment.
The clinic offers assessment for visual difficulties associated with concussion or brain injury, eye turns, amblyopia, focusing, eye coordination and tracking. Its services also include visual skills relevant to learning and sport.
Your optometrist determines whether therapy is appropriate for your specific visual condition and goals.

Check your eye health
A comprehensive examination reviews your prescription and eye health before the therapy assessment. A recent examination may meet this requirement.

Assess your visual skills
The doctor evaluates the visual difficulties you are experiencing and whether you are a candidate for therapy.

Work through your program
If recommended, a personalized program may include one-to-one sessions using lenses, prisms, movement-based tasks and computer activities.

Review your progress
The clinic describes a progress evaluation every 10–15 sessions. The doctor reviews your response and discusses the next stage.
Before you begin.
Is vision therapy covered by MSP or extended insurance?
The clinic lists vision therapy as outside routine MSP and extended-health coverage. Injury-related funding may be available in specific cases; check with the clinic and your insurer before treatment.
I recently had an eye exam. Do I need another?
If another optometrist examined you within the past six months, the clinic says a repeat examination may not be needed before the therapy assessment. It may request those examination notes.
Can ICBC cover treatment after a motor-vehicle accident?
With an active ICBC claim, coverage may be possible. Contact the clinic to discuss your case and confirm approval before starting.
What about a work-related injury?
Some workplace rehabilitation programs may fund vision therapy. The clinic can discuss the relevant program and any approval requirements.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. If another healthcare professional referred you, let the clinic know so that findings can be coordinated with your care team.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the visual condition, its complexity and participation in the program. The doctor discusses the likely course at your assessment.
